The role will encompass a full range of marketing activities, principally through digital channels, for subsequently developed Earth-i products to end users and/or partners in selected target market sectors.

Role Description:

The Product Marketing Manager will be primarily responsible for the identification of market opportunities for Earth-i’s existing satellite image data-as-a-service offer, and its emerging analytics and insights products. The PMM is a new role and will lead the market research, marketing proposition development and market validation of existing product offers in image data services, and for prototype analytics and insights solutions. The role will encompass a full range of marketing activities, principally through digital channels, for subsequently developed Earth-i products to end users and/or partners in selected target market sectors. This will include targets for the generation of Marketing Qualified Leads those sectors with a strong link to revenue generation or further stages of product development. The role will therefore involve direct communication and close engagement with potential Earth-i clients at an early stage in the development of key future customer relationships and the products that meet their emerging needs and requirements for sophisticated analytical solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Market Research
  • Develop a clear understanding of the application of EO data and analytics within chosen target sectors in the existing and emerging markets for EO data, analytics and insights
  • Research and report on value chains and applications within specific target market sectors that utilise optical and SAR satellite data:
    • Identify, analyse and report on key stages in the value chains of target customer segments
    • Identify, analyse and monitor possible competitor activity
    • Identify, analyse and monitor potential partner activity and collaboration opportunities
  • Identify potential opportunities and applications for Earth-i in specific target market sectors based on analysis of:
    • User needs
    • Key personas (decision-makers and users)
    • Use cases
    • Product development opportunities
    • Competitive offers or substitutes
  • Direct and assist the Market Analyst to identify prospect organisations and develop a prospect database for targeting with product-based marketing campaigns
  1. User Engagement
  • From user needs and personas analysis, and search work from Market Analyst, identify potential users and possible organisations and decision-makers / buyers for Earth-i propositions, especially those that could be early-adopter visionaries in the application of satellite data for analytics and insights products
  • Develop an engagement strategy targeting potential users and early adopters working closely with:
    • Market Analyst for outbound marketing campaigns and contact strategies
    • Digital Marketing Manager for content development and engagement through digital channels
  • Plan and implement a series of user engagement events for potential customers to further define and/or validate user needs and early stage product requirements, including but not limited to:
    • Webinars
    • Workshops
    • Interviews
    • Surveys
  1. Insights Concepts
  • Work closely with Product Development Director and team to provide input from customer dialogue regarding desired product attributes that meet user needs and requirements
  • Organise the user interface and feedback processes within the product development cycle representing the ‘customer’s voice’ in the product development process at key stages
  • Ensure that user feedback is carefully recorded and aggregated and presented in a format that can be effectively integrated into the product development cycle
  1. Marketing Campaign Management
  • Develop appropriate digital marketing content and sales collateral to support direct user engagement in:
    • The development cycle
    • The productisation of prototype solutions
    • The direct sales effort for market-ready solutions
  • Lead the planning and development of inbound marketing content for each proposition and publication through digital channels including the company website, collaborating closely with the Digital Marketing Manager and utilising the HubSpot marketing automation platform
  • Commission and oversee the production of appropriate micro-sites for specific applications and solutions working closely with the Digital Marketing Manager and supporting agencies
  • Work closely with the Sales team to support lead generation and qualification to build and sustain a healthy pipeline of Marketing Qualified Leads for developed propositions
  1. Partner Collaborations
  • Develop co-marketing plans for insights solutions developed in collaboration with delivery partners focussed on the joint development and marketing of insights solutions where agreed with the Commercial Director
  • Develop co-op marketing and sales collateral with partners
  • Utilise Earth-i marketing agencies to support PR and media activity in close cooperation with partners’ PR resources

Essential Experience:

  • Graduate qualification in an engineering/ data science /applications development or related technical subject
  • Proven experience and success in a product marketing role within the commercial space, remote sensing or GIS sectors with a strong Earth Observation or geospatial data emphasis
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a satellite or remote sensing company would be a distinct advantage
  • Good standard of written and spoken English with secondary languages an advantage
  • Confident manner able to build relationships over the phone or online
  • Skilled in working across multi-disciplinary teams and able to build collaborative relationships with peers with senior leadership to achieve a common goal
  • Ambitious outlook, with a desire to work and grow rapidly within a high-growth, high-tech environment with a strong entrepreneurial culture
