8 August 2023 – Earth-i has been successful in securing funding in the first phase of The UK Space Agency’s International Bilateral Fund (IBF) investment scheme.
The scheme is aimed at helping UK organisations link up with the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, India, Singapore, South Africa and more to form collaborations that will progress space research and catalyse investment in new technologies.
Earth-i has partnered with Planet of the USA to create an innovative approach to achieving high-revisit surveillance of sites of interest to the defence, security and intelligence (DS&I) community. Earth-i will demonstrate how the combination of high and very high resolution satellite Earth observation data can be used to achieve effective high-revisit surveillance at reasonable cost – a capability that DS&I customers are very keen to have.
Earth-i is the project lead, and is responsible for research and development of the data processing elements. Planet is providing the project with a range of datasets covering locations of interest. Both companies hope to exploit the technology with an operational implementation that will have significant export potential worldwide.
