Earth-i is, for the first time, attending the Farnborough International Airshow and exhibiting alongside the UK Space Agency. The show provides Earth-i an opportunity to present the capabilities of the DMC3/TripleSat constellation to one of the largest Air and Space events, almost exactly a year since the satellites were launched.
Earth-i will be hosting an audience at 11.00am on the Wednesday of the show in the UK Space Agency’s pavilion (Space Zone, Hall 3). The presentation will focus on how Earth-i and their satellite data partners 21AT assisted the Alberta government with tracking the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfires, in support of the emergency response efforts, using very high resolution imagery from the DMC3/TripleSat satellites. This will provide prospective customers an insight into how similar data analysis techniques can be applied to produce valuable information that meet the needs of their own organisations.
It has been a full year since the DMC3/TripleSat constellation, developed by British satellite pioneer Surrey Satellites Technology Ltd (SSTL), was launched on the 10th July 2015 onboard an Indian PSLV-XL rocket. The DMC3/TripleSat-1, 2 and 3 satellites were injected into the same 651km orbit and all three satellites have been moved to their designated orbital positions, 33 minutes behind each other; they will be maintained in this configuration over their entire lifetime. This makes it possible to target anywhere on the Earth – even the most hard to reach areas around the tropics – every day.
Richard Blain, CEO of Earth-i, commented: “It is significant that a year on from the launch of the DMC3/TripleSat constellation we are here at Farnborough International, presenting our growing range of information products and services to the whole Aerospace and Defence community. We congratulate 21AT for their highly successful operation of the constellation, as well as SSTL for the pioneering technology that makes it possible. Earth-i is looking forward to an enduring relationship with our partners and to serving existing and new customers as we grow our portfolio of services.”
